The Church of Lake Beliș-Fântanele is one of eight places of worship in Romania that have been swallowed by the waters, but the only one in the country that is entirely on the bottom of the lake. It can be visited either in the hot summers, when the water level is very low, or by scuba-diving with the help of authorized divers from April to October.
The ruins belong to Urmanczy Church and date back to the 20th century. The unusual thing about it is that, although it has been under water for so long, you can still see the old paintings on its walls.
The Legend of the Sunken Church of the Belis-Fântanele Lake never misses an opportunity to invite us into a legendary space, where mystery meets imagination.
