The sunken church in the Beliș-Fântanele Lake is one of the eight places of worship in Romania that were swallowed by the waters, but the only one in the country that is entirely on the bottom of the lake. It can be visited either in hot summers, when the water level is very low, or by means of diving assisted by authorized persons between April and October.

The ruins belong to the Urmanczy Church and date from the 20th century. A unique thing about it is that even though it has been underwater for so long, the old paintings can still be seen on its walls.

The legend of the Sunken Church in Beliș-Fântanele Lake never misses an opportunity to invite us into a space of legend, where mystery merges with imagination.
